One Mission One Band

Faith is not all that carries us, yet we all seem to question our faith at different times of our lives. Music can only support our faith, some would say it can define our faith.

For his part, Bono makes it clear his praise is directed to a higher power. “They’re all, to me, songs of praise to God and creation, even the angry ones,”

Massive Tour of Year: U2

That mind-blowing sum is the final tally for U2’s historic 360° tour, a three-year behemoth that shattered preconceived notions (and capacities) for stadium shows, forever changed the paradigms of concert production and moved more than 7 million tickets around the globe.

Bono / U2 / U2TOURFANS/ Nick Walker U2 started out with an idea of getting closer to its fans and ended up with the largest grossing tour with a whopping $736,421,586.  The 360 tour has broken stadium records and changed the way people attend concerts.  The tour ended in July, which at that time became the highest grossing and biggest ticket seller in the history of the tour business.

U2’s Gem Hidden amoung words

Amplify’d from www.u2tourfans.com

Often I find myself listening to U2 lyrics to find that hidden gem. I find that listening to U2 gives me hope, faith and renewed sense that people are good.  Often I reminded that U2 music is more than words on a sheet that some deep thought has gone into the lyric.   As I was traveling the other day, I had a chance to read an article by Brett Warner that was just refreshing and full of possibility.  The team has been writing for weeks about Achtung Baby and how you really should pick up your own copy, small plug for us. Every time you make a purchase on Amazon from our links, you are helping fund this project. So thank you for your continued support.   Now back to Brett and his article.  He dusted off a gem that I had forgotten about. “The First Time” We all know the story that Achtung Baby was the successor to Zooropra was to be the EP that promotes the fourth leg of the massive production Zoo TV.

To fans Paul has been labeled as the fifth member of U2, he has guided the boys career from a local bar band to a global machine. When Paul was asked is this the end ? ” No, and I think I would have heard. Not at all. They are always working on the next record.”

One Love –

Many have taken the song One to mean many different things to them. Often you hear that this song is related to the AIDS/HIV drive for awareness, with a message of acceptance. Its not often that a song comes along with such a powerful message of loving your fellow man, no matter what the differences could be. In the shadows of a possible melt down of U2 arose a song that will forever be linked as one of the greatest songs of our time.

One” is a song by Irish rock band U2. It is the third track from their 1991 album Achtung Baby, and it was released as the record’s third single in March 1992. It was recorded at three recording studios, Hansa Ton Studios, Elsinore, and Windmill Lane Studios. During the album’s recording, conflict arose between the band members over the direction of U2’s sound and the quality of their material. Tensions almost prompted the band to break up, until guitarist The Edge composed a chord progression that inspired the group to improvise the song, which was written as a ballad. The band worked on the mix for “One” throughout the remainder of the album’s sessions. The lyrics, written by lead singer Bono, describe fracturing interpersonal relationships, but they have been interpreted in other ways.

Along Came a Baby

Eric shares his thoughts the arrival of baby.

With a mouth full of Novocaine, I walked into Rose Records on Achtung Baby’s release day, close to mid-afternoon. One side of Jamie’s store was plastered in photos of U2 while the other was covered with a displaced Garth Brooks promo poster from an earlier fall release. The wall of U2 graphics was mind blowing. Square images, of highly stylized photographs, covered the space in a mosaic pattern, mimicking the new U2 album cover. The subject of each square, measuring roughly 15 inches by 15 inches, was like a small vignette. One had all four U2 members dressed in drag while another had a profile shot of Bono in black and white with a half-nude woman, standing behind him. I was overwhelmed in the transformation, as the creative team behind brand U2 had left behind their 80s ideals of decorating album covers, except for the October album, with a stark black and white image.

Where will U2 be in 2012 ?

Bono answers the tough questions with tough answers. U2 are about to release their most expansive reissue project yet, for 1991’s Achtung Baby (Super Deluxe Edition – the album where they traded in earnest uplift for funk, noise, sex, irony and self-doubt. So how does this lavish look back square with the band’s old lyric “You glorify the past when the future dries up”?

HH and the wild influcence

Amplify’d from www.u2tourfans.com

I always knew that if you wanted to become great at your craft, you had to know the masters, or were lucky enough to be a prodigy. I will say it straight out that I’m no prodigy, therefore, I had to learn my craft of being an art director from the ground up. That’s right, watching Saturday morning cereal commercials, in the mid-70s no less, impeded by cartoons such as Looney Tunes or Hong Kong Phooey. Luckily, my parents, my mom and stepfather, were academics, which lead me to travel and live in Europe as a young kid. Those experiences have stayed with me and helped me build a knowledge base of design. Added to the fact, my father’s an architect and has a voracious, creative appetite. It’s no wonder I turned out the way I did.

1991 Could that be ?

Eric claims that 1991 could be the final year of great music. We wonder if that could be the case. Music has changed over the years. For sure RAP has made their presence stronger and some might wonder if ROCK is dead ? Well Rock never dies, rock only matures and grows into something new. Rock is here for ever and 1991 was just the start of something different.

Music is my lifeblood. It’s a plain and simple fact. From Bowie to The Cure to Nirvana to U2 and well beyond, I listen to a very eclectic group of genres. However, I’m no longer a consumer of music like I was in my post-college years. I still “listen” to newer bands, but have not been very impressed with recent releases. The last time we had a major shift change in music was in 1991.
